What is AI?

AI is an abbreviated form of the term “artificial intelligence.”

In general, AI refers to the ability of a computer or machine to learn and perform tasks that would typically require human intelligence, such as reasoning, natural communication, and problem solving.

Who invented AI?

AI was first explored by Alan Turing, a British computer scientist, in 1950. In his famous paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence," Turing proposed that a machine could be said to be intelligent if it could successfully impersonate a human in a conversation.

However, the term "artificial intelligence" was first coined by computer scientist John McCarthy in 1955. McCarthy defined AI as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines.”

What are the 4 types of AI?

The 4 types of AI are:

1. Reactive AI, which is the simplest form of AI. It can only respond in a predictable manner based on the input it receives.
2. Limited memory AI, which can remember and use past experiences to inform current decision making.
3. Theory of mind AI, which is able to understand and anticipate the thoughts and feelings of others, and alter its behaviour based on that.
4. Self-aware AI is aware of its own thoughts and feelings and can model the inner experience of others. This AI type is still theoretical.

What is AI used for?

AI is used for a variety of tasks, from simple tasks like adding numbers to more complex tasks like identifying patterns.

In general, AI is used to automate repetitive tasks or to make decisions based on data.

This includes, but isn't limited to:

• task automation in customer service, marketing, business
• disease diagnosis in medicine
• creating AI opponents in video games
• self-driving cars
• personalized recommendation algorithms
• AI video generation
