Synthesia customer reviews
What do you like best?
I've been Synthesia for about 2 months, and in that time span they continue to add new features, including the ability to record your screen, and also add videos and other media content. I like that they continue to add additional festures. The AI Avatars are slick, and can really add a whole new dimension to eLearning by incorporating them into your authoring tools such as Storyline or Captivate.
Our +380.000 employees all over the world, no matter in which country, must have the same competence profile. Synthesia helps us develop engaging, relevant and localised training content at scale.
The creation of the videos is very similar to create a power point slide deck, so the learning curve is very flat. A great feature Synthesia offers is screen caption, either as a background or a video. A nice feature is to use a finished video as a new template, so corrections and new background can be added without recreating the video anew.
At Cord, we're using Synthesia to create product demo videos that add the more interactive AI avatar element, which has shown to significantly improve our engagement metrics. We're particularly impressed by the ease of use of their platform and the wealth of different AI actors we can use to diversify our videos.
Syntesia's interface and functions are just perfect for creating short educational videos. I like that we can upload our slides, select a voice and avatars. The interface is intuitive and the video quality is great. I also appreciate the ability to select different languages, as we work in Asia and need more languages than just English.
I love how simple this tool is to use and how I can integrate it into platforms like Zapier for my automated CRM. It's not only fun to use, but it's also a game-changer for your business. There are so many possibilities! I was also really surprised about how affordable Sythesia is.
With a limited budget and no marketing staff, my open rates on video emails and social media posts have increased by 25% since using Synthesia. It is easy to use, and I appreciate the ethnic, language, and tonal diversity. I am encouraged by the frequent improvements added at no extra cost to us. The price is just right for our nonprofit budget.
What's not to love? Using Synthesia is intuitive, easy and fun! I love the range of avatars available, but also love being able to add the voice only which suits some of my projects. It's a huge bonus to be able to import my own media also for backgrounds, as some projects are very specific in what is required. Being able to add different languages is also a huge bonus and opens up the potential reach for both myself and my clients.
The thing I like best about Synthesia is the ability to create new content that is hyper-local to our global audiences. We are a large organization with many different languages spoken, so this software is a quick way to communicate a message that is specific to our audiences.
The video creation tools significantly reduce the time it takes to create videos. This has allowed our group to build virtual human applications at a much faster rate. The voices used in this application are also better than what you find with other text-to-voice applications and include visual components.
An app democratizing the future of video and media. Fast, versatile, intuitive, and easy-to-navigate user interface. For someone like me who is passionate about video, having used different products, this one is a favorite. Not only does it let anyone produce an excellent talking head video in minutes, but it also does so much more. Multilingual text-to-speech with an increasing number of avatars that speak and act like an actual human. Or wait a second, they are in fact actual humans. Probably the most encouraging thing is the team's commitment to delivering to the highest standard. This alone guarantees a world-class product.
I am finally able to create videos that explain directions that people will watch and follow. Having the talking head with a voice pulls people in, and before they know it, they have watched 10 minutes of instructions. This has already saved us so many phone calls where we usually have to explain these directions over the phone.
It's easy to create a professional announcement with Synthesia. It allows for unique media content and has the ability to overlay an avatar on a background video and edit the video. The price is also very affordable, even for a medium-sized nonprofit.
First, I'm impressed with the quality of the generated videos. I also really like how the pitfalls, like strange pronunciation, are addressed with a clever and very intuitive UI that lets you hear your text before generating the video. Overall, the UI is top-notch and it's quite simple to create new videos.
It is easy to create stunning training videos in a short amount of time. The avatars are great and the quality is constantly improving. I also appreciate the many new features being added.
The fact that you can create a video in multiple languages and quickly change it after finding a mistake or if the information changes is a breeze. We no longer have to hassle with making videos, taking care of background, lighting, multiple takes, editing, etc. This is our go-to method now, and we have already had clients wanting to use it for their own businesses.
Synthesia is a brilliant platform that works well and dazzles the audience. It's user-friendly and the best software we've come across at a very reasonable price for what you get. I highly recommend it.

The interface is very easy to use. The choice of characters/avatars is amazing, covering just about every ethnicity, race, gender, and profession. I found the voices to be very close to reality. I highly recommend this tool. I have already used it to create many videos.
With Synthesia, you have an all-inclusive suite for creating video content with realistic actors and voice modulation in many languages, all in minutes! You can create feedback quizzes, training videos, or presentations with custom digital actors that look real, and text-to-voice features. I've used it on many occasions, and it really helped reduce costs and get quick results.
It is straightforward to use. No additional peripherals, like cameras and microphones, are needed. The results are impressive. I love the instant autosave feature that saves your work after every single change. Everything is optimized, so you don't have to decide on tens of confusing settings.
The solution is simple. We got our own avatar from Synthesia and we were up and running in 5 minutes. We use Synthesia to run video-first marketing campaigns on our website, which has proven to have great conversion rates. Our customers interact more easily with video than with plain text on the website, and we leverage Synthesia to automatically scale it across more than 6 languages.
At CEMEX University, we're using Synthesia to create explainer videos because it is just easier, faster, and more cost-effective to use Synthesia than to record an actual person doing the explanation. Their great variety of avatars makes it easy to adapt to most types of learning or communication initiatives, and the flexibility of producing the content in multiple languages has made Synthesia a go-to resource for many of our new programs.
The app is quite impressive, even in its early stages. The variety of avatars to choose from and the text-to-speech options (different accents, tempo, pronunciations, etc.) are amazing. I like that I can send a link to my clients so they can watch, listen and choose their favorite 'actor.' After developing the video, I can enable Share & Duplicate Video and send the link (my source file/work) to the client - another excellent feature!
There is no faster way to create a video quickly - you can't beat copy and pasting in some text and clicking go. Sometimes people want to have a video for something but do not adapt well to the visual medium. Ideally, a message is adapted to the medium, but in cases where that's not possible, the idea that something already written can be made into a video quickly is excellent.
What problems does Synthesia solve?
Synthesia has reduced the cost of producing content and made the content more engaging by enabling developers to add voice and video content to learning. The rapid addition of new features and adding new Avatars will allow us to expand our usage beyond our original intention. I get a little dopamine rush every time, I log in and see and see that the product has been updated!
Synthesia is allowing us to turn presentation trainings into recordings without requiring someone to take time to record themselves and edit every time a change is needed. We create a more standardized learning experience and escalate our training to be more professional.
Synthesia allows me to collaborate with managers throughout the course creation process, and I can turn their scripts into professional videos, without having to film them.

We are migrating our how-to documents, currently containing screen shots (which makes those documents unreadable) to short videos with a walk thru background accompanied with verbal explanations. This allows us to increase the information density without boring the audience. Especially the AI gives a personal touch. We will use certain spokes persons (AI) for certain topics to give our users a familiar face.
We used Synthesia to create a chatbot on our website. An avatar that talks to our customers and walks them through our website. I've never thought of video chatbots like this before and I'm really impressed with it. Also, with the video chatbots we converted more visitors into demos. The fact that it is super fast to do and easy to do in multiple languages is just fantastic.
The biggest problem I have is producing quality voiceovers. You can hire a professional voiceover spokesperson but this takes days and can cost hundreds of dollars. Or you can do it yourself and, in my case for lack of good equipment and a professional sounding voice, quality suffers. Synthesia's AI driven technology produces near human voice results which are shockingly realistic. All of this saves time and money.
As an educational institution, we need to produce educational materials in 2 languages. Synthesia has the possibility to create consistent content by adding the text in those languages and have instructional video tutorials ready very fast. It saves us time and money without compromising on the quality.
Synthesia does away with needing actors, film crews, and expensive equipment. I can use it to add to the automated emails my clients receive when they sign up with me. Now, my clients also receive a personal welcome video from me and I don't have to do a thing! I don't need to film an individual video for each new customer, Synthesia does it all for me. This brings a whole new level of professionalism to my business which is just great.
I don't need to record my videos to get a better effect on the video. I can shoot videos in multiple languages in minutes with an avatar.
The main problems I can solve with Synthesia are creating videos in a very short period of time, especially when advertising a special offer for creating a project for a client quickly. This is valuable because it makes everyone happy. A major benefit is having human-like speech.
Our group is creating a chat-based interface using Synthesia videos that help to train students in the medical field. We have found that collaborators and students are much more likely to accept these characters on first impression than the previous 3D virtual humans we used.
Being able to sell complicated items that have involved instructions, directions, and precautions requires a lot of phone interactions because handing many people a PDF just doesn't work. Having these videos explain things with a person talking clearly holds the customers' attention so they get all the information they need. It has saved us countless phone calls and has made customers feel confident in the items they purchase.
It is great for regular announcements on programming and as an accommodation for the hearing impaired. We work primarily with youth ages 14-22, and they seem to be more willing to watch the video than they are to read a long email. We also recently used it as a loop for an exhibit at a music education convention, and it seemed to attract a lot of people's attention.
It raises our content to the next level, helping us gain interest and engagement in our services. The speed of production and the fact that it only takes one person is a great cost reduction.
In our learning projects, some subject matter experts of our customers don't like to be on video, or we lack the time to produce real video content due to project time limitations. Then Synthesia is our first place to go to. If customers are on tight budgets, then the use of Synthesia helps us to create learning videos at a much lower cost than real video.
We are an app business that has struggled to effectively explain our app and how it works to users through traditional methods such as blog posts and FAQ articles. However, with Synthesia, we are able to enhance the user experience while also explaining the system in a more engaging way.
Video content is an easy way to engage your customers and keep them coming back. Video marketing can be used in many ways, such as creating instructions that make it easier to use your product, explaining how to use the product on social media, or showing the workflows in your company. But how can you create such content if you have no camera or actors? Of course, with Synthesia!
One problem it is solving for us is adding new video sequences after delivery. Before using Synthesia, whenever a client wanted to add more video sequences, we had to shoot again, with all the budget and logistics that entailed. Now, we can simply go to the platform and build the new sequences from the already existing template. Another problem was multilingual video training. Before, we had to translate the content, find an actor speaking the right language, and shoot each video independently. Now, we just need to translate the text, and Synthesia does the rest!
When creating courses with audio, if the narrator leaves the organization, we don't have to settle for two different voices or search for a similar voice. We can easily recreate all voiceovers with Synthesia.

I prefer to use avatars in my company videos rather than my own face because they look more professional and I trust them to maintain my corporate image. Additionally, I don't have to worry about setting up a microphone and camera, buying and learning complex video recording and editing software, or hiring actors, assistants, or editors. I am able to handle the entire process by myself.
We have built a training academy for our SaaS product with Synthesia. It currently consists of 39 videos over nine courses. Synthesia has enabled us to iterate extremely quickly on our customer onboarding videos. We even managed to produce 20 professional-looking training videos in just three weeks.
We create training videos for our employees, including onboarding videos and how-to videos for our internal software programs. We've created a lot of different videos now, and my biggest takeaway was that it is possible to create personalized videos on a large scale without it being really expensive and time-consuming. Just amazing!
Synthesia allows us to use video formats where usually there is not enough time or money to do so. So far it's been used for training products (for our employees as well as for our customers) but also for internal communication like news, introducing software products, or explaining new processes.
I am currently exploring the possibility of using AI videos for online learning and training. Apart from using expensive alternatives and filming people, this allows for a quick mockup of the learning program and seeing the results instantly. It certainly works better than using a static photo with a voiceover or animated characters.
I wanted to kickstart some of the online user guides for a new product we are launching. Synthesia has "blown people away" when they see the quality of what is possible with an hour or two of work. The tool is also making us think about the overall scripting and messaging that we are trying to get across to the audience. How is it benefiting us? The rate of productivity is way beyond my expectations. I've churned out half a dozen videos in a couple of days and they just keep getting better. The tool is making the whole experience so easy.
What don't you like?
In general, there aren't things I dislike, if something it could be improved - the ability to add more than one audio in the same video. For example 1 slide would have one audio track which it may be different from the audio I want to use on slide #8 or #10.
I wish there were more options for pricing; it's either the basic, affordable monthly plan (which is somewhat limited), or the full-boat enterprise plan. Most SaaS companies have pricing tiers that can ramp you into paying more on a monthly basis.
Since it is browser based, sometimes it lags a bit and text might end up somewhere else then intended. Also, the steps from a template to a draft video to video could be more intuitive, now everything is a template until it is converted to a video.
I'm hoping they expand features so I can make longer videos with more moving parts. I'm extremely happy with what I'm able to do now, and I can't wait to see what's coming in the future. This changes everything for us, saving us so much time with hand-holding customers.
Their avatar library has grown significantly over the past months, making it more flexible to use throughout different programs, assigning one identity to each learning program. Their web application has also scaled very fast in terms of features, including video backgrounds or image overlays. It's just getting better and better every week.
Not all writing styles are suitable. In some cases, avatars will struggle with more natural human expressions and intonations, such as irony, sarcasm, and joyful exclamations. With limited online video editing, it falls short in terms of precise timing of elements, as there's no timeline to work with.Only front-facing poses are available.
If you plan to produce a lot of videos, Synthesia lacks organization and sorting tools. You can't organize videos into folders. Since there's no way to organize your multiple versions, it can be tough to keep track of things if you're working on multiple projects at once.
The only thing I'm working around is the resolution in uploaded PowerPoint images. Not a big deal as I simply convert them to .JPGs, which allows flexibility with the animations. The animations are great, by the way. The fade-in and fade-out capabilities are so cool. Way beyond what you can do in PowerPoint (from my experience).
