What is a deepfake video?

A deepfake video is a manipulated video that uses AI algorithms to superimpose a person's face onto someone else's body.

Deepfake videos can be used for malicious purposes, such as spreading false information or manipulating public opinion, and can be difficult to detect without specialized tools.

However, deepfake technology in video can also be used for helpful purposes, such as generating digital versions of real people (with their full consent and under strict moderation) to be used as AI avatars in video production.
