We are pleased to announce our partnership with ElevenLabs, a leading provider of advanced text-to-speech (TTS) and voice API technology. This collaboration represents a step forward in our ongoing efforts to add more innovative features to our generative AI video platform, and an example of how technology companies in the United Kingdom are pioneering adoption of responsible generative AI to unlock business value for businesses around the world.

‎The ElevenLabs voice API will enable Synthesia users on an Enterprise plan to leverage high-quality, natural-sounding voices in their video projects. By integrating ElevenLabs technology into our platform, users will have the option to clone their voice with greater speed and efficiency, and therefore create more engaging, personalized and immersive video experiences.

A custom avatar’s voice, including cloned ones, will also be able to speak multiple languages, which has been a frequently requested feature from businesses wishing to use the Synthesia platform to localize their content for a global audience.

As we embark on this journey with ElevenLabs, we remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards of responsible AI development and promoting a culture of accountability in the use of generative AI technology. Creating a custom avatar, including voice cloning, is governed by ‎our principles of consent and control:

  • Custom avatars can be created only with the explicit consent of the users whose likeness it replicates, following a thorough onboarding process and our platform ensures users have control of who uses their custom avatar, when, and how. Users can also request that their data and likeness be deleted from our databases and we service these requests in a timely fashion.
  • Content created with custom avatars is governed by our robust content moderation policies and processes. We describe in detail which content is prohibited or restricted for custom avatars so as to encourage everyone to express their thoughts and ideas in a respectful and considerate manner. We apply moderation at the point of creation to prevent harmful or offensive content from being generated.

We’re excited to see how our partnership with ElevenLabs will empower more businesses to bring their ideas to life and express themselves in new and exciting ways.
