In collaboration with PepsiCo brand Lay’s and UNIT9, 180Amsterdam we created a personalised video experience for the latest global interactive campaign featuring Lionel Messi - Messi Messages.
Messi Messages is a simple video experience enabling fans to send personalized videos with Messi addressing their friends by name. Even more - the experience supports Messi speaking 8 different languages.
The campaign also received a Cannes Lion award in 2021.
The collaboration uses our cutting-edge AI technology to generate a synthetic version of the football player, enabling him to speak 8 languages. The experience is highly personalised, with more than 650 million video variations available in 8 languages.
All that was needed to create Messi’s synthetic avatar was recording Messi for 5 minutes in a green screen studio, speaking in his native Spanish. This original footage was then used to train Synthesia’s deep learning algorithms. And so Synthetic Messi was born.
