Synthesia Community Challenge: Create with Syren - Official Rules

Effective: October 9, 2026
The full rules
Please read these Rules. By submitting an entry or replying in the Challenge thread you agree to them.
- Who runs the Challenge. The Synthesia Community Challenge: Create with Syren (the "Challenge") is run by Synthesia Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10933652) whose registered office is at located at 20 Triton Street, London NW1 3BF, United Kingdom ("Synthesia", "we", "us"). Entry is free for anyone who already has access to Syren. This is a prize competition of skill, not a lottery or sweepstakes. Void where prohibited.
- Challenge period. The Challenge runs from 00:00 UTC on 9 October 2026 to 23:59 UTC on 23 October 2026 (the "Challenge Period"). Synthesia's clock governs.
- Who can enter. The Challenge is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where they live, if higher), who have access to Syren in Synthesia Studio, and who do not live in an Excluded Territory. The following cannot enter or win:
- employees, contractors and judges of Synthesia and its group companies, and their immediate family and household members;
- anyone who is the target of sanctions or export restrictions, or who lives in a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions;
- anyone whose employer's policies, or applicable law, prohibit them from accepting the prize, including public officials who may not accept gifts.
- "Excluded Territories" means Quebec (Canada), Italy, Brazil, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, and any other country or region where Synthesia Studio is not available.
- How to enter. During the Challenge Period:
- create a video using Syren in Synthesia Studio;
- post your entry in the Challenge thread in the Synthesia Community, including your video (or a link to it), a short description of the use case and, if you wish, the prompt you used.
- Limit of one entry per person. Your video must be created with Syren during the Challenge Period. Entries made through multiple accounts, or by bots, scripts or other automated means, are not valid. Syren videos use credits. Enterprise customers receive enough credits for one free video per user. Using further credits is your choice, does not improve your chances of winning, and is your organisation's responsibility. Sharing your entry on LinkedIn is optional and does not affect judging.
- Judging. Entries are judged by a panel of at least three Synthesia employees. Judging is done by people, not by an automated system, and winners are never chosen by chance. Each entry is scored on the following equally weighted criteria: (1) how well you use Syren; (2) the care taken in prompting and iteration; (3) how original and impactful the final video is. If entries tie, the panel will re-score the tied entries and the highest score wins. A judge with a conflict of interest will not score the affected entry. The panel's decision on judging is final.
- Prizes. There are five (5) winners. Each winner receives a US$200 digital gift card (or the equivalent in local currency), delivered by email through a third-party provider. The total prize pool is US$1,000, and no more than five (5) prizes will be awarded. There is no cash alternative and prizes cannot be transferred. We may substitute a prize of similar value if the original is unavailable.
- Winners and tax. Winners will be announced in the Synthesia Community on 30 October 2026 and contacted by Community message or email. Each winner must reply within 7 days, confirming that they meet the eligibility rules and can accept the prize. If a winner does not reply in time or cannot accept the prize, we may award it to the next-ranked eligible entrant. Winners are responsible for any tax on their prize. We will not withhold tax, but may ask for information we are legally required to collect. For winners' names, email support@synthesia.io until 31 December 2026.
- Your entry and licence. You keep ownership of your entry. You grant Synthesia a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and share your entry (including your description, prompt and name) in connection with the Challenge and the Synthesia Community, for as long as the entry remains displayed in the Community and for 24 months after the Challenge for Synthesia's promotion of the Challenge. You may ask us at any time to stop new uses of your entry. We will do so, but we cannot recall material already published. To the extent permitted by law, you waive, or agree not to assert, any moral rights in your entry as against Synthesia.
- Your confirmations. By entering you confirm that:
- your entry is your own work, made with Syren, and does not infringe anyone else's rights;
- it does not contain confidential information, or other people's personal data, unless you have permission to publish it;
- you have your employer's permission to submit and publish the entry, if it was made as part of your work or uses your employer's materials;
- everyone identifiable in your entry, including anyone whose image, voice, custom avatar or voice clone is used, has consented to its public display and to our use under these Rules;
- your entry complies with Synthesia's Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines and with applicable law; and
- you have not removed any label, watermark or other mark identifying the video as AI-generated.
- Publicity. If you win, we may publish your first name, company, entry and the fact that you won on the Synthesia Community, our website and our social media channels. We will not use your face or voice (including any avatar or voice based on a real person) in any other context, and we will not use your entry in paid advertising, without separate written consent from you and, where relevant, from the person depicted.
- Posting about the Challenge. If you post about the Challenge or your prize on LinkedIn or elsewhere, make clear that you are doing so as part of a Synthesia competition (for example by using #SynthesiaChallenge) and say only what you honestly think. The Challenge is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by LinkedIn or any other platform.
- Disqualification. We may disqualify an entry or entrant who cheats, uses more than one account, uses automated means to enter, submits an entry that was not made with Syren during the Challenge Period or that breaches these Rules, our Acceptable Use Policy or the law, or who harasses or abuses other participants or our staff. Using Syren and other AI tools to create your entry is expected and allowed. We may remove any entry that breaches these Rules.
- Liability, release and indemnity.
- Nothing in these Rules limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
- Subject to (a) and to the extent permitted by law, Synthesia, its group companies and their personnel are not responsible for: (i) entries or communications that are late, lost, incomplete, illegible, misdirected or not received; (ii) failures, interruptions or unavailability of networks, servers, Synthesia Studio, the Community, email (including email filtered as spam) or third-party platforms; (iii) errors in, or loss of, information, whether human or technical; (iv) damage to your devices caused by taking part; or (v) your organisation’s credit usage.
- To the extent permitted by law, you release Synthesia, its group companies and their personnel from claims arising from your participation in the Challenge or your acceptance or use of a prize, other than liability under (a).
- You will compensate Synthesia for losses (including reasonable legal costs) arising from a third-party claim that your entry, or our use of it as permitted by these Rules, infringes that third party’s rights or results from your breach of clause 9.
- We may take action against anyone who tampers with or attempts to damage the Challenge. These Rules do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. If any part of this clause is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- Changes and cancellation. We may cancel, modify or suspend the Challenge if fraud, technical failure or any other cause outside our control impairs its fairness or integrity. We may update these Rules for that reason or to correct errors, unless the change would be materially adverse to entrants. We will announce any change in the Synthesia Community.
- Personal data. Synthesia Limited is the controller of the personal data you provide for the Challenge: your name, Community profile, email address, entry content (which may include your image or voice) and, if you give it, your LinkedIn handle. The copy of your entry that you post in the Community is provided to us for the Challenge, and we handle it separately from any content you created in Synthesia Studio as Customer Data. We use it to run the Challenge, judge entries, verify, contact and pay winners, prevent fraud, and publicise winners, relying on performance of these Rules and our legitimate interests in running and promoting the Challenge. We share it with our group companies and with providers such as the Community platform and the gift-card provider. Your data may be processed in the UK, the EU, the US and other countries under appropriate safeguards. We delete contest records of entrants who do not win within 90 days after 30 October 2026, and keep winners' records for as long as finance, tax and legal requirements need. Entries posted in the Community stay there until you or we remove them. You can exercise your data protection rights, including access, correction, erasure and objection, by emailing dpo@synthesia.io. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority. Our Privacy Policy at https://www.synthesia.io/legal/privacy-policy also applies, and these Rules prevail if there is a conflict about Challenge data.
- Governing law. These Rules are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not affect your mandatory rights under the law of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts.
- General. The English version of these Rules prevails over any translation. Nobody other than you and Synthesia has any right to enforce these Rules. Questions about the Challenge: support@synthesia.io
