LONDON, June 8, 2026 – Synthesia, the world’s leading AI video platform, today announced an MoU with the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). The announcement was first made at the Government’s AI Adoption Summit during London Tech Week 2026, which brought together CEOs from FTSE 100 companies and UK scaleups to discuss how to accelerate AI adoption across the workforce, and the challenges facing large companies in adopting AI solutions.
The agreement sets out a shared commitment to harnessing AI video technology to accelerate workforce upskilling, expand access to AI training across the UK, and support the delivery of the UK Government’s AI Skills Boost campaign. The MoU was signed by Synthesia CEO and co-founder Victor Riparbelli and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for AI and Online Safety Kanishka Narayan MP.
Speaking about the partnership, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said:
“AI presents a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity to grow our economy, but to realise these benefits, we need to ensure people have the skills to use it with confidence. That’s why we’re on a mission to upskill 10 million workers with essential AI skills by 2030. I’m delighted to welcome today’s MOU with Synthesia who are making it their mission to make training more engaging and accessible for the public. I’m looking forward to seeing their work helping more people get AI skills, and supporting the efforts of our AI Skills Boost industry partners as they continue accelerating towards 10 million.”
Synthesia CEO Victor Riparbelli said “The UK has a real opportunity to lead in AI adoption and ensure that every business benefits from AI. Synthesia was founded in the UK and has a global impact, and we’re proud to partner with DSIT to help make that vision a reality. AI video has a great role to play in making AI training more engaging, accessible and scalable, and we look forward to working with the Government and its partners to demonstrate what that can look like in practice.”
A shared ambition for the UK
The partnership reflects a shared belief that the UK’s ability to lead in AI depends on equipping people with the confidence and skills to use AI effectively. As a UK-founded company, Synthesia is well placed to contribute to this national mission.
Under the MoU, Synthesia and DSIT will explore collaboration across several areas, including:
- AI video for public sector learning: Identifying the most effective approach for scaling AI video tools across UK public sector organisations, with the goal of improving workforce productivity, accessibility and service quality.
- Supporting the AI Skills Hub: Synthesia will explore how its platform can enable and amplify the reach of AI upskilling content on the Government’s AI Skills Hub, working in collaboration with training providers and edtech partners.
- Inclusive access to AI training: Supporting programmes that extend AI education to underserved and underrepresented communities across all regions and nations of the UK thanks to accessibility, multilingual reach, and personalisation of training across diverse learner groups.
- Responsible AI video: Drawing on Synthesia’s leadership in consent-based avatars, content provenance and synthetic media safeguards to promote the responsible creation and use of AI video learning tools.
- Policy and skills development: Contributing Synthesia’s industry expertise to help shape future AI skills policy targets and priorities, including identifying emerging skills needs and new opportunities to extend the reach of the AI Skills Boost campaign.
