Synthesia Brings TJ, a Cartoon Version of NVIDIA’s CEO, as an Interactive Avatar to GTC Berlin

Create AI videos with 240+ avatars in 140+ languages

Summary

  • We built an Interactive Avatar of Toy Jensen (TJ) using our own video and voice models, trained and running on NVIDIA GPUs.
  • Attendees at NVIDIA GTC Berlin this week can ask TJ which sessions to see and get an answer on the spot.

Today, we’re announcing that we’ve built an interactive avatar of TJ, the cartoon version of NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang. From October 21 to 22, TJ will be on the ground at STATION-Berlin, talking with attendees and recommending conference sessions based on what they tell him they want to learn.

A conference guide who talks back

GTC Berlin is NVIDIA’s European flagship conference and spans three days of talks, panels, and hands-on workshops into one venue, and the agenda is packed with over 100 sessions. Instead of scrolling through it, attendees can walk up to TJ at Session Room 6 or between Session Rooms 3 and 4, tell him what they work on or what they’re interested in, and leave with a shortlist built for them. Try it yourself below!

While attending the event, a founder looking to create the next breakaway AI app gets a different set of recommendations from an engineer building robots, and both can ask follow-up questions and get personalized, context-aware answers.

Our models running on NVIDIA hardware

Everything TJ says and does comes from our proprietary models and Interactive Avatar API, packaged in a widget that can be embedded in apps or websites. Our video model generates his face, expressions, and lip movement, and our voice model generates his speech. A large language model is responsible for matching the questions from visitors to the information included in the agenda; if the question falls outside the agenda, the Avatar will either politely bring the conversation to an end or simply redirect it back to the agenda.

From watching an Avatar to talking with it

TJ is a playful example of where business video is heading. The same technology lets employees put questions to a training video or rehearse a workplace conversation with an Interactive Avatar.

As a result, video evolves from something you watch to something you can talk to, and closer to our mission of helping people work better.
