ERGO, a globally operating insurance group, needed a new internal communication solution that could keep up with the dynamics of its business.

Relying on documents, slide decks, and repeated explanations meant 37,000 employees across 20+ countries were rarely hearing the same message.

With Synthesia, ERGO transformed how it keeps its entire workforce informed. We spoke with Roman Stammes, Project Manager Metaverse at ERGO Group AG, to learn how they did it.

The challenge

For a global financial services provider, communication is a key factor for success. With the amount of information constantly growing, ERGO’s ambition was to ensure they communicated all relevant content internally as quickly and precisely as possible. However the traditional formats and channels had reached their limits.

ERGO's journey with Synthesia started nearly five years ago. The initial goal was straightforward: reduce the manual overhead involved in producing communication content. What changed was the scope of what became possible.

“Individual employees had to explain the same things again and again. We used PowerPoint – analogue, overloaded, and in practice hardly helpful for consistent, scalable communication.” — Roman Stammes

The solution

Today, Synthesia is embedded across the entire ERGO group.

Its most impactful application is the ERGO News program — group-wide updates distributed across all business units and to all 37,000 employees, produced entirely through Synthesia.

“It is so much easier and far more engaging.” — Roman Stammes

Content that once required weeks of coordination now takes minutes. Leadership can communicate directly to the workforce without production teams, scheduling or studios.

A single video serves audiences across multiple languages almost immediately after production. Teams no longer rebuild content for each region — they localize it in minutes.

Built for enterprise

For a financial services group operating under European regulatory frameworks, the decision to choose Synthesia required more than a strong product. ISO certification, compliance standards and data governance requirements all had to be met in full.

“Many companies in this space focus on moving fast. Synthesia understood early what it takes to work with a large financial services organisation — and fully met these requirements.” — Roman Stammes

From specialist output to standard tool

Today, Synthesia is used across departments, functions and geographies at ERGO — from process documentation to technology onboarding to board-level messaging.

Video is no longer a specialist output; it is a standard one. The scope of who can communicate has widened across the entire organisation.

“My vision is for every employee to use Synthesia in their day-to-day work: for example, to explain a process, share a change or introduce something new – just as they use PowerPoint today.” — Roman Stammes

ERGO Group now has a communication model that scales with the business. The gap between a 37,000-person organisation and a consistently informed workforce has closed. And five years in, they’re still just getting started.
