When you're designing a training video, you have to make a lot of decisions. How many scenes should you have? What should your scenes look like? When should you incorporate interactivity into them? And so on.
Templates reduce the number of decisions you need to go from a learning outcome to a polished training video, quickly.

Onboarding and orientation templates
These templates are for when you're introducing a new hire to the company and their role; an employee to a software or workflow; or a customer to your product.
1. Onboarding
Onboarding videos can range from welcome and company culture videos to overviews of career development and internal mobility. This template is designed for onboarding an employee to an internal portal. Try it out if you need to create a tool overview for your employees.
2. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
An SOP training video walks an employee through a repeatable process. Use this template when you need to demonstrate a sequence of steps, and communicate the importance of doing so correctly.
3. Product demos
A product demonstration video can be internal or external facing (or sometimes both, depending on the situation). This template allows you to introduce your product, highlight key features or recent updates through media embeds, like videos, screenshots, or testimonials.
Compliance templates
These templates are for training where there is a regulatory or operational requirement. In these scenarios, the templates are giving you a structure so you can focus on the clarity and accuracy of the information presented. You'll also likely want to model the desired behavior in specific scenarios to mitigate risk or avoid common concerns.
4. Cybersecurity

How do I choose the right training video template?
We have a library of over 250 templates. They're labeled by use case, which can be broad (e.g., Onboarding) or specific (e.g., Choosing the right investment plan). You don't have to choose a template based on the content. You can easily use a compliance template for another how-to topic.
I recommend finding several templates to test out. Find the one that best aligns with your learning objective and brand. (Some are more playful than others.) As you build an employee training video plan, I recommend using the same templates over and over again to reduce the cognitive load for your employees.
Can I customize these templates?
Yes, everything is customizable from the script to the avatar (even their wardrobe) and font choices. Change out the background music or swap out the colors. The choices are endless. Just don't get too distracted by the design choices. The whole point of a template is to allow you to focus on getting the content and learning design right.
How long should a training video be?
There is no "right" length for training videos. They typically range from 60 seconds to 8 minutes, depending on the topic (although I've seen shorter and longer). Workplace research suggests that engagement begins to decline after 6 minutes. But don't let a number dictate your learning design choices.
If you have a compelling video that's 7 minutes and engages learners throughout, it's the right length for you. Just consider segmenting anything that's much longer into shorter videos.
Do I need video production experience to use these templates?
Absolutely not. I have zero video production experience (unless we're counting a high school internship, which I'm not).
